This year media award of Today’s News magazine recognized some of the eminent personalities who had created good niches to themselves in the society as well as helping humanity to succeed. The event which was held at the NUJ Press Centre, Akure, recognized eleven personalities in the society. Among them were Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Ooga of Agamo in Akure North LG , Highness Akinduro Gbadega, the Oloja of Owena, Barr Adu Olumuyiwa and host of others. The programme which was organised by Prince Adefemi Ojopagogo, who is the President of the Association of Independent News Paper Publishers in Ondo State.

According to the Publisher, he implored all those who are hell bent at destroying Nigeria, those fanning ember of insecurity, corrupt individual and leaders e.t.c will be exposed without minding whose ox is gored to desist from doing evil.

While the gust speaker Dr. Oguntoyimbo in the Federal University of Technology Akure said the cultism had been a great challenge to the university and the entire society at large. He condemned the activities of the cultism in his speech.

He explained that the initial aims and objectives of the Secret Society as it was established then was to enhance the socio economic of the society and to fight the colonial Master . He said but now their activities had turn to the killings of human being and doing all others form of dangerous activities.
The University Don highlighted the reasons why some Youths joined the association to be Security protection , peer pressure, parental influence, money power and others reasons.

Dr. Oguntoyimbo said those promises that the Cultists used to lured their victims are just mere tricks as all those promises does not exist any where whenever they joined the cult. He now advised the parents to cautions their wards from joining the cult groups whenever they get admission into the University and within the society.

He asked the parents to instilled religious discipline into the life of their children and also said the Religious organisation should always carried out seminar that would condemned and reduced the spread of the cultism in the society .
