Barr. Olumuyiwa Adu has stated that he left People’s Democratic Party, PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC, because ther was no love and unity in the party and he needed a place he can have a full power to make a change.

Adu, who made this known at a media interaction organized by Federated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ondo State Council stressed that he is not ambitious but ready to serve the people.

According to him, his coming into politics was a call from God and to work in the interest of the people.

He said “I am not an over ambitious person and I will never be. I am not ready to contest for any position for now, I want to work for the people, I am on my feet to see that much people are not shortchanged”.

‘Everything is in God’s hands, I will do whatever my people want me to do, they will be the one to determine my next move. If I am being called to contest for any position, I can. I am a politician for everyone”.

“A leader is a servant and nothing more, he should see everyone as equal and sentiment should not be what a leader should consider. Philosophically, nobody is higher than another”.

He added that everyone should occupy themselves with something important as at a time, set some priorities and have plans to re-access what they are doing.

He opined that the cost of governance in Nigeria is outrageous, noting that elective position is not somebody’s inheritance. “Nigeria should begin to think about addressing the issue of mental capability of elective office holders, physical capacity and procedures of handling things”.

He also stated that it is childish to say that Akure belongs to only the people that are given birth to in Akure. “Akure is not meant for the indigenes alone, it is meant for everyone in Ondo State”.

Adu, who had a very humble background, noted that he never depended on his parent’s money. ‘ I’ve been working to earn myself some money at a young age and I want people to learn that from me as well”.

He posited that it will be difficult to curb corruption in Nigeria except the system is allowed to work. “We have to redefine how we want to be doing things and follow it”, he said.
