Today, Administrator Samantha Power convened a meeting of leaders from donor governments to discuss the international response to the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, particularly during the current humanitarian pause. Participants included representatives from Australia, Canada, Denmark, the EU, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the Republic of Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Administrator Power provided an update on U.S efforts to surge humanitarian assistance during the pause and heard from participating donors on how their governments are providing critical humanitarian assistance.

The leaders discussed the urgent need for civilians in Gaza to have access to continued life-saving assistance and for Israel to take every possible measure to protect civilian life. The leaders underscored their countries’ commitment to supporting Israel and strong condemnation of Hamas’s terrorism and brutal attacks on Israeli civilians.

Administrator Power detailed the U.S. commitment of $100 million in humanitarian funding for West Bank and Gaza that President Biden announced on October 18. This funding is supporting displaced and conflict-affected people with clean water, food, hygiene support, medical care, and other essential needs. The Administrator expressed U.S. appreciation for donor governments already providing funding and urged the group to continue to step up their own support.
