5Th Fowoso Summit: A Purposive Strategy For Inspiring Womenfolk–Betty.

The 5th Foundation for wife’s of Ondo State officials,-FOWOSO for this year 2023 came to a climax today at the Gani Fawehinmi Arcade complex in Akure , Ondo State Capital with a lot activities with a theme “Living A life of Purpose ” particularly for the womenfolk. This year event as discribed by the wife of the Governor of Ondo State Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu said the summit was a Purposive Stretegy for Inspiring womenfolk to be deliberated about the growth and impact on all fronts to always strive to bridge the gender gap in Nigeria’s Political space and to continue to work in alliance with other women toward liberating womanhood at all levels from Age-long subjugation.
According to her, the organization had recorded a lot of achievements in the areas of empowement libration of our womenfolk from idleness .In her words ” we have continued to complement government’s efforts in ensuring that gender based violence remains a punishable offense in Ondo State with the aid of Violence Against persons prohibition’s law (VAAPP). We have also continued to improve the number of women in appointive and elective positions with more women emerging as Chairperson’s Vice Chairpersons ,Secretaries and Councilors in local government administration.
In another development, the Governor’s wife said ” celebrating the fifth summit signifies that we have truely come of age and quite evidently FOWOSO has done well for women in Ondo State it has elevated hitherto lower statuses , added inches to women’s economic heights and strengthened homes through various empowerment initiatives . It has liberated minds and continues to broaden mental horizons so that women can make more informed decisions “.
Similarly, the program which featured march past parade by the local government areas of women in different categories as classified by their professions in order to added glamour and beautiful colour to the whole event. The event also featured old people that are of seventy years old dance competition in order to give them sense of belonging in the whole programme and also appreciate them with some packages. Riffle draw, empowerment distribution and presentations of different gift to the participants were part of the programme.
