Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Sunday hosted the leaders of the Muslim community in the State for Iftar (Breaking of Fast) as part of the 30 days Ramadan fast.

Speaking at the event held at the International Culture and Events Center, The DOME, in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa hailed the unity between Christians and Muslims in Ondo State, emphasizing that they are part of one cohesive community, united despite their different religious affiliations.

He emphasized the importance of Ramadan beyond fasting, highlighting it as a period for spiritual reflection and drawing closer to Allah, just as he commended the Imams and Alfas for their continuous prayers and support for his administration.

The Governor called for prayers for Nigeria to overcome economic challenges and for leaders at all levels to be guided in making decisions that would lead to national growth and development.

Addressing the issue of coming primaries and governorship elections, the Governor appealed for peaceful conduct among political parties and contestants, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the interest of Ondo State above all else.

Highlighting his administration’s commitment to enhancing security and improving the welfare of the people, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured the citizens of Ondo State of his government’s dedication to fulfilling its constitutional duties.

The Governor assured that the Ikare central mosque saga and other lingering issues would be resolved. He stressed that no community or town would be left untouched by the present administration in the State.

At the special event, Muslim leaders from across the State took time to commend the governor for his various people-oriented projects while pledging their unalloyed support to his administration, urging him to do more for the community to have sense of belonging.

Earlier in his opening address, Alhaji Zikrullah Adam Chandy, Chairman of the Ondo State Muslim Welfare Board, emphasized the lessons of unity imparted by Ramadan, highlighting fasting as an act of kindness. He stressed that fasting fosters empathy by allowing Muslims to experience hunger and understand the plight of the less privileged, thereby promoting extraordinary acts of compassion and fostering love among individuals.

Chandy expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for allowing the Board to handle the event with the full support of the government

The event featured lectures, prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the State and the nation at large.
