
Ondo Guber Poll : REC Talks Tough On Vote Buying
The Resident Electoral Commission REC in Ondo state, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola has assured those coming to polling units to sell votes that the Commission is ready to send them to jail, in conjunction with security agencies
The REC made the promise at the weekend during a press briefing on the Commission’s readiness for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state ,at the Commission’s headquarters in Akure that the buyers and the sellers will be handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) and other agencies in charge , to take such person or group of persons up for such criminal act.
Mrs Babalola said the commission is working tirelessly to curb all forms of Indiscipline during and after the election.
However , on the voter registration and PVC collection, she said INEC has concluded the Continuous Voter Registration CVR exercise,which has witnessed a significant increase in registered voters across the state.
After the successful conclusion of the CVR exercise, 58,708 new voters were registered.
In addition, 3,132 voters transfered their registration into Ondo state while 123 votes transfered their registration out of the state.
The harmanized total number of new registered voters with the old registered voters now 2,053,061.
She later emphasized and advised that , people should vote their conscience and shelve any selling or buying of votes
