The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has began distribution of non-sensitive materials to the 18 local government areas ahead of the January 18th, 2025 Local Government Elections in the state.

Speaking on the preparation of ODIEC, the Chairman of ODIEC, Dr Joseph Aremo noted that the commission has successfully recruited and trained ad-hoc staff who are going to be working on the election day. He has also met with stakeholders that are key to the success of the elections.

The Chairman hinted that the non-sensitive election materials required for the election have been distributed to the 18 local government ODIEC offices, while also reiterating that the electoral body was working with relevant security agencies to ensure the security of the election materials.

Aremo emphasized that the Commission is fully committed to conducting a free, fair credible, transparent, peaceful and inclusive election in the state, while urging the electorate to come out en masse on Election Day to exercise their franchise and contribute to the democratic process.

He advised all political parties, candidates, and their supporters to eschew violence and respect the rules of engagement.
