Pandemonium in Akure as Protesters Shut Down Governor’s Office Over Killing of Farmers by Armed Herdsmen
There is chaos in Akure, Ondo State, today as protesters have barricaded the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, demanding immediate action following the killing of five farmers by armed herdsmen. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, took place at Aba Oyinbo in the Akure North Local Government Area.
The protesters, visibly agitated, displayed the bodies of the victims in front of the Governor’s Office as they voiced their outrage over the continuous attacks on farmers in the region. The five victims were gunned down by the herdsmen during an invasion, marking another violent incident in a string of attacks that have left residents and farmers in fear.
This recent attack follows a deadly assault nearly two weeks ago, when about 20 farmers were murdered across four farm settlements in the same local government. The continued onslaught has prompted calls for urgent government intervention to end the reign of terror in Ondo State.
