The Executive Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Hon. Ara Maurice Oripenaye (Arah), on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, received the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Winifred Olutokunbo Afolabi, and his team at his office, reiterating his firm commitment to tackling insecurity in the area.

The Police Commissioner’s visit followed a community safety stakeholders’ dialogue held in Ugbo Nla, in the wake of a recent communal clash in the area. He emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement and praised Ilaje as a historically peaceful region. CP Afolabi also commended Hon. Oripenaye for his swift response to the security issue and assured that efforts would be intensified to restore calm and rebuild community trust.

In his remarks, Hon. Oripenaye, who also serves as the Chief Security Officer of Ilaje LG, reaffirmed that “no meaningful development can take place in an area devoid of peace.” He noted that a panel of inquiry has already been set up to investigate the causes of the Ugbo Nla conflict with a view to providing lasting solutions.

He further pledged logistical support to the police and reaffirmed his administration’s alignment with the state’s agenda to protect lives and property. The visit was attended by key political leaders, council officials, and community stakeholders.
