Police Assure Public of Safety Amid Rumored Owo Church Attack Letter

AKURE, ONDO STATE – May 25, 2025 –

The Ondo State Police Command has responded to reports circulating on various media platforms about an alleged letter threatening a renewed attack on the Owo church, reportedly authored by a suspected bandit involved in the previous tragic incident.

In a press release issued by the Command, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola clarified that the authenticity of the purported letter remains unverified. Nonetheless, the police have taken the development seriously, deploying heightened security across the state.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed the heavy deployment of security personnel to all places of worship, especially during worship days, while intensifying surveillance and patrol operations,” the statement read.

The Command cautioned media outlets and the public against spreading unverified or fake information capable of inciting panic and undermining ongoing security efforts. It assured residents of their safety and urged them to continue with their daily activities without fear.

The Police reaffirmed its commitment, in collaboration with other security agencies, to protect lives and property across Ondo State. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the provided emergency contacts.
