…says no project will be abandoned under his watch

Akure, Ondo State — June 4, 2025:
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing all inherited infrastructure projects, declaring that no project will be left abandoned.

Speaking during the official commissioning of the newly completed Oda Road in Akure South Local Government Area, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the event as a major milestone in his government’s drive for inclusive development and infrastructural renewal.

“This project is a testament to our commitment to deliver on promises made to the people,” the governor said. “We will not abandon any project. Both the Ijoka Road and the Onyearugbulem/Shagari Flyover will be completed.”

The dualisation of Oda Road, initiated by the late former governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, was completed under Aiyedatiwa’s administration following a thorough audit and review of contractual agreements. The governor commended the contractor, Dortnud Construction Company, for its cooperation and quality delivery.

He emphasized that the project aligns with the 2025 Budget of Recovery, which prioritizes capital expenditure to unlock economic growth across communities. The completed Oda Road, spanning 7.8 kilometers, is already improving access to schools, health centers, and commercial areas, while easing traffic congestion and boosting real estate value.

Governor Aiyedatiwa urged residents to take ownership of the road, warning against damaging infrastructure through poor waste disposal or harmful activities such as tire burning on asphalt.

Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, Engr. Olawoye Abiola, described the road as a practical demonstration of the state’s commitment to modern infrastructure across all 18 local government areas. Local leaders, including Akure South Chairman Hon. Gbenga Fasua and the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, hailed the project as a transformative development for the area.

Also present at the event were the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa; Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip; members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, and other dignitaries.
