In a resounding and joyful atmosphere, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, commissioned the Secretariat of the Association of Independent Newspaper Publishers (AINPN), Ondo State Chapter, located in the heart of the popular Isikan Market in Akure.

While commending the concerted efforts of the Executives of the Association, in collaboration with its individual members, for also acquiring plots of land for the organization , Adeniyan noted that having such an edifice as a secretariat would go a long way in giving the association more credibility. He added that members of the public would now have the opportunity to engage and do business with the association in a befitting office.

He praised the leadership of the association under Olaseni Oyesusi, along with other executives, for a job well done. He also stated that whatever assistance he could render to support the secretariat in terms of the necessary facilities, he would not hesitate to provide, in order to further beautify the building and make it more attractive to the general public.

In another development, members of the association used the occasion of the secretariat’s commissioning to interact with the CPS on the various achievements of the present administration within its first one hundred days in office.

As the government’s spokesperson, Adeniyan used the opportunity to brief members about several infrastructural projects embarked upon by the governor. While some have been completed and commissioned, others are ongoing, including the flag-off of road dualisation projects aimed at delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.

He encouraged the independent publishers not to be deterred by the current challenges in the media industry. He urged them to maintain their integrity and strictly adhere to the ethics of journalism.

According to him, “No media organization is too small to be recognized, and none is too big not to be patronized. The small ones can cause a government great damage, and when that happens, you’ll need the big ones to help correct the narrative.”

In conclusion, the CPS appreciated all members of the association for their contributions to upholding the tenets of journalism and their support for the state’s economy through their various media platforms. He urged them to sustain the tempo for the growth of democracy and the advancement of the journalism profession.
