
NIEEE Akure Chapter Set to Inaugurate New Leadership and Launch Community Empowerment Initiatives
The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE), Akure Chapter, is set to inaugurate a new executive leadership team that will guide the chapter’s affairs over the next two years. This leadership transition marks a pivotal step in the institute’s journey to foster engineering excellence, promote innovation and strengthen community engagement across Ondo State.
At a press conference held on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Secretariat in Alagbaka, Akure, Engr. Ayodeji Ajayi, Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Inauguration Planning Committee, welcomed Fellows, Corporate and Associate Members of the institute, alongside members of the press. He shared an overview of the activities lined up to celebrate the inauguration of the 5th Chairman of NIEEE Akure Chapter, Engr. Adedokun Adeyemi Adeyonu.
The week-long event kicks off on Tuesday, July 1st, with an “Evening of Praise” at 4:00 PM, followed by an empowerment session at 5:00 PM for 50 less privileged individuals at RCCG – Seed of David, Toyin’s Building, Oba Adesida Road, Akure. This initiative underlines the institute’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and grassroots development.
On Wednesday, July 2nd, the National President of NIEEE will arrive by 11:00 AM. The day continues with courtesy visits to elders of the institute and top government functionaries by 2:00 PM, further strengthening relationships with key stakeholders. At 5:00 PM, a private session with the NIEEE President will take place at Winners Guest House, Ijapo.
Thursday, July 3rd, is the grand day of inauguration. The event, which begins at 11:00 AM at Winners Guest House, will feature awards to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to electrical engineering and to the growth of the institute. An inaugural lecture titled “Policy and Regulatory Framework for Efficient Energy Management” will be delivered by the Special Adviser on Power and Commissioner-Designate.
A distinguished lineup of guests is expected at the event. The Special Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker is His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Executive Governor of Ondo State. The event will be chaired by Engr. Felix Olu, FNIEEE, with IPC Engr. Folorunso S.S. serving as Chief Host. Other notable guests include Otunba Tom Daramola, CEO RTD Thompson Abuja; Engr. Olaolu Ogunduyile, Vice President COREN; Engr. Ibrahim Sunday Abudawaris, Chairman Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission; and Hon. Festus Adefiranye, Member, House of Representatives. His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Oluwole Olufaderin Adetimehin, will serve as Royal Father of the Day. Cultural performances will also add color to the celebration.
To round off the week’s activities, a thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday, July 6th, at 11:00 AM at RCCG – Seed of David, Toyin’s Building, Akure. Members of the public, stakeholders, and friends of the institute are invited to join in this moment of reflection and celebration.
Speaking to the press, Engr. Adedokun Adeyemi Adeyonu, the incoming Chapter Chairman, reaffirmed the institute’s dedication to connecting students, professionals, and society through engineering solutions. He emphasized the institute’s leadership role in tackling Nigeria’s power and energy challenges through innovation, advocacy, and professional development.
Engr. Adeyonu described the inauguration as a symbol of renewed commitment to excellence, creativity, and community impact. He expressed appreciation for the support received from members, stakeholders, and partners over the years, urging continued collaboration as the Akure Chapter enters a new era of progress and transformation.
