The newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, has paid a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 17, AIG Ajani Omolabi, psc(+), as part of efforts to deepen collaboration and enhance security across the state.

The visit, which took place at the Zonal Headquarters in Akure on Tuesday, marked CP Lawal’s first official engagement outside the State Command Headquarters since assuming office. He was accompanied by members of his management team.

During the meeting, AIG Omolabi congratulated CP Lawal on his new appointment and extended goodwill on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM. He encouraged the Commissioner to build on the existing security framework in the state and assured him of the zone’s full support.

“As your immediate supervising officer, I am committed to working with you to sustain peace and order in Ondo State. The Inspector General has reposed great confidence in your capacity to lead effectively,” the AIG stated.

In his remarks, CP Lawal expressed gratitude for the warm reception and pledged to uphold the vision and mission of the Nigeria Police Force. He revealed that he had already begun rolling out strategic plans aimed at consolidating the achievements of his predecessor and tackling emerging security challenges across the state, especially in vulnerable rural and riverine communities.

“I am fully committed to building on the successes of those before me. I have keyed into the Inspector General’s policing vision and will lead the Command with professionalism, dedication, and a clear focus on results,” CP Lawal assured.

The visit symbolized a renewed spirit of synergy between the State Command and the Zonal leadership, with both parties reiterating their shared resolve to maintain law and order and improve safety for residents of Ondo State.
