The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has described the emergence of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a turning point for the ruling party, expressing confidence in a stronger and more victorious future for the APC.
Yilwatda was unanimously endorsed by members of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) during a meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Reacting shortly after the NEC meeting, Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the party’s leadership for the smooth and rancour-free selection process, stating that Yilwatda’s leadership credentials and capacity to reorganize and reposition the party were well known.
“The All Progressives Congress, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, now has a brand new National Chairman, and this marks a significant milestone for our great party,” Aiyedatiwa said. “Prof. Yilwatda’s emergence signals hope. He has the capacity to consolidate on the gains recorded under Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje and to chart a new course of growth and success.”
Aiyedatiwa, who had earlier joined other APC governors for a strategic meeting with President Tinubu on Wednesday, noted that the choice of Yilwatda reflects the President’s knack for identifying competent and visionary leaders.
“I congratulate President Tinubu for yet another brilliant choice. His consistent ability to identify and elevate talents is truly remarkable. The future is green for our party, and we have made a decision that will impact positively on Nigerians,” he added.
The governor also pledged the full support of Ondo APC members to the new national chairman, affirming commitment to the party’s unity and progress.
