Ondo Governor’s Advisory Council Holds First Meeting, Discusses Governance, Party Growth

The Ondo State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) on Saturday held its inaugural meeting in Akure, with Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa hosting key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to deliberate on governance and party matters.

The closed-door session, held at the Government House Banquet Hall, was chaired by Chief Pius Akinyelure, former National Vice Chairman of the APC and ex-Chairman of the Board of NNPC Limited, while Hon. Isaac Kekemeke, APC National Vice Chairman (South West), served as secretary.

Discussions centred on strengthening ties between the government and the party, fostering unity, and preparing for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking after the meeting, Akinyelure described the engagement as “fruitful,” noting that it aimed to “bridge the gap” between the party and the government to ensure effective governance and party growth.

Former APC National Vice Chairman (South West), Pastor Bankole Oluwajana, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa’s inclusive leadership style, saying it encouraged unity within the party. Former Senator Prof. Ajayi Boroffice highlighted the governor’s fiscal discipline, including prompt salary payments and debt reduction, as notable achievements.

GAC Secretary Kekemeke said the council reaffirmed the governor’s position as the party’s leader in the state, resolved internal issues, and advised against using presidential support groups as alternatives to party structures.

Other notable attendees included former Deputy Governor Alhaji Ali Olanusi, Gen. Funso Oyenehin (rtd), Ambassador Sola Iji, Chief Bode Sunmonu, Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, Dr. Ayodeji Oyedele, and Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti.
