APC Debunks Rumour of Canadian Terrorist Tag

…Says court ruling never declared party as terrorist organisation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as false and mischievous media reports claiming that a Canadian court declared the party a terrorist organisation.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party said the allegation stemmed from a gross misrepresentation of a June 17, 2025 judgment in the case between one Douglas Egharevba and Canada’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.

According to Morka, the court only dismissed Egharevba’s appeal against the decision of Canada’s Immigration Appeal Division, which found him inadmissible under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) for alleged subversive acts linked to his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“The only mention of APC in the entire 16-page ruling was a background reference to the applicant’s claim of belonging to the party between 2007 and 2017 — an impossibility since APC was formed in 2013,” Morka clarified.

The statement further stressed that the court made no ruling on terrorism, quoting Justice Phuong T.V. Ngo as saying: “I will therefore refrain from analysing the IAD’s findings on terrorism.”

APC described the reports as “patently erroneous” and urged Nigerians to disregard them, noting that the party was not a party to the proceedings and could not have been the subject of such a declaration.
