The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in 12 out of 16 constituencies contested during Saturday’s by-elections held across 12 states, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as largely peaceful and credible polls.
According to the results declared by INEC, APC secured wins in 12 constituencies, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won two, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) one, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) also one.
In a congratulatory message on Sunday, President Tinubu lauded the performance of the new APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, noting that the outcome marked his first major victory in office. He also praised APC governors and other party leaders for their role in the electoral success.
“Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has shown leadership capacity and demonstrated what is achievable when popular candidates are fielded and with unity of purpose among party leaders,” the President said.
The President also assured party faithful and Nigerians that his “Renewed Hope” agenda would translate into a more secure and prosperous nation.
While congratulating winners across party lines, Tinubu urged all candidates and political parties to embrace sportsmanship, fairness, and magnanimity in order to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic process.
