Group Counters Faboyede’s Loyalty Claims, Calls for Greater Accountability in Ondo PDP

Akure, Ondo State – September 20, 2025

A socio-political advocacy group, None is Above the Law, has responded to recent remarks by former Ondo State PDP Chairman, Engr Clement Faboyede, who declared himself the most loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

According to him, while speaking with an online media platforms ,he said “For everybody in this state, they know me very well. And I know myself. Nobody can say he’s more PDP than me. Nobody.”

While clarifying that he maintains friendships across political parties, Faboyede emphasized that such relationships do not affect his loyalty to the PDP.

“I have friends across all parties. But that does not mean I will work against my own party. Not at all. My loyalty to the PDP is unquestionable,” he stated.

Responding to the claims , the group described the claim as misleading and unreflective of recent party dynamics.

Speaking at a press conference in Akure, the group’s Interim Coordinator, Mr. Ezekiel Akande, said such assertions do not align with the internal experiences of party stakeholders in Ondo State. He urged party leaders and members to adopt more transparent and inclusive leadership models as the PDP works to rebuild ahead of future elections.

“In a party filled with many committed leaders, it is not helpful to make exclusive claims of loyalty or commitment,” Akande said. “There are individuals whose dedication to the PDP has remained consistent and widely acknowledged, such as Dr. Eddy Olafeso, Barr. John Ola Mafo, Dr. Tayo Dairo, and Chief Tunde Akindehin.”

Akande raised concerns about Faboyede’s alleged inconsistent political positioning in recent party primaries. He referenced the 2020 and 2024 PDP gubernatorial primary elections, alleging that Faboyede shifted allegiances between aspirants, which, he said, raised doubts about his political reliability.

The group further cited internal PDP events that, according to them, had been affected by decisions Faboyede made during his leadership tenure, including his role in party congresses and candidate endorsements.

Akande also referenced internal party disagreements during the 2024 state congress, alleging that Faboyede played a divisive role in leadership selection processes. He said such actions contributed to discontent among stakeholders and influenced the eventual resignation of a former PDP chieftain, Hon. Kennedy Peretei.

On matters of party administration, Akande called for more transparency and accountability from all party leaders, past and present. He claimed that during Faboyede’s tenure as State Chairman, secretariat staff faced financial difficulties, alleging that salaries were left unpaid for extended periods.

The group concluded by urging PDP members in Ondo State to prioritize unity and reforms over personal ambition, and encouraged political actors to lead by example in strengthening internal democracy.
