Ondo Police Command Cracks Down on Drug Trafficking, Arrests Woman in Okitipupa

23rd September, 2025

The Ondo State Police Command has intensified its campaign against drug-related crimes, leading to the arrest of a woman caught with large quantities of illicit substances in Ode Aye, Okitipupa Local Government Area.

On 22nd September 2025, at approximately 5:30 pm, acting on credible intelligence, police officers raided the residence of Mrs. Ibikun Segun, a female suspect residing at No. 16 Ikoloma Street, Ode Aye. The search uncovered substantial amounts of a white crystalline substance suspected to be crystal methamphetamine, alongside dried leaves believed to be cannabis sativa. Additionally, ₦25,000, thought to be proceeds from illegal drug sales, was seized.

The suspect was promptly detained, and investigations are ongoing to identify the source of the drugs, uncover possible collaborators, and dismantle any linked distribution networks. Upon conclusion of inquiries, the suspect will face prosecution in court.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, reiterated that drug abuse and trafficking significantly threaten public safety, contributing to violent crimes including kidnapping, robbery, cultism, and homicide. He praised the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his leadership and support that bolsters the Command’s efforts to combat these challenges.

Citizens are urged to reject illicit drugs and support the Police with timely information to help maintain security and order in Ondo State.
