Police to Continue Enforcement of Tinted Glass Regulations from 2nd October

Date: 27th September, 2025

The Ondo State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the regulations on tinted glass usage on vehicles, with enforcement operations set to commence on the 2nd of October, 2025. This was announced by Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, during a strategic meeting held on Friday, 26th September at the Command Headquarters in Akure.

At the meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders, CP Lawal emphasized the need for officers to conduct the enforcement with utmost professionalism, fairness, and integrity. He warned that the enforcement of tinted glass permits must not become an avenue for extortion or misconduct by police personnel. Officers found engaging in such malpractices will face strict disciplinary action, in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

In addition to the tinted glass enforcement, the Commissioner reviewed recent policing operations, applauding officers for successes in arrests, recovery of stolen vehicles, and thwarting of criminal activities. He urged continued intelligence-led policing and strengthened partnerships with community stakeholders to maintain security, especially with the upcoming ember months, political activities, and Independence Day celebrations.

CP Lawal also cautioned officers against involvement in civil disputes and unauthorized roadblocks, reiterating the importance of adherence to the Police Act 2020 and international best practices regarding humane treatment of suspects.

He directed heightened vigilance in border communities adjoining Kogi, Edo, and Osun States to prevent security breaches, emphasizing collaboration with non-state actors for credible intelligence.

In closing, the Commissioner highlighted ongoing efforts to root out corruption and misconduct within the Command, referencing recent exposés of extortion and incivility. He assured the public of the Command’s unwavering dedication to protecting lives and property with professionalism and integrity.
