Overgrown Grass Blocks Entrance to Federal Secretariat in Akure
Akure, Ondo State — November 3, 2025
The entrance gate of the Federal Secretariat located along Igbatoro Road in Akure has become heavily overgrown with grass, making access difficult for commercial motorcyclists and other vehicles.
Workers have expressed concern over the deteriorating state of the environment, noting that the unchecked growth of weeds within and around the premises could attract reptiles and pose potential health risks if not promptly addressed.
Some visitors and staff who spoke with reporters described the surroundings as bushy and poorly maintained. They warned that the condition of the Secretariat, including the motorcycle park and the backyard, requires immediate attention to restore proper ventilation and sanitation.
According to some workers, the ornamental plants and flowers around the premises also need to be trimmed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the compound.
They are calling on the management of the Secretariat to urgently clear the overgrown grass that has nearly blocked the main entrance and to ensure regular maintenance of the entire environment. They emphasized that such action would not only improve the appearance of the Secretariat but also create a safer and more welcoming atmosphere for both staff and visitors.
