OSOPADEC Chair Pushes Stronger Grassroots Synergy as Ilaje APC Ward Leaders Visit

26th November,2025

In a renewed bid to strengthen collaboration with grassroots political structures, the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Olabiyi Olaleye Poroye, on Monday hosted All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward Chairmen from Ilaje Local Government Area, assuring them of the Commission’s unwavering commitment to the rapid development of mandate areas.

Prince Poroye applauded the ward leaders for the visit, describing the engagement as a vital step toward reinforcing party cohesion and promoting participatory governance. He emphasized that consistent communication between leaders and the public remains essential for transparency and accountability.

He encouraged the chairmen to maintain regular interaction with institutions across the mandate areas, noting that such ties often translate into meaningful opportunities for community members.

Speaking on the worsening situation in Ayetoro, the OSOPADEC CEO warned that the potential collapse of the community would have “adversely far-reaching” consequences for both Ilaje and Ese-Odo. He revealed that the Commission is conducting a baseline assessment to guide a coordinated intervention expected to involve international technical partners.

Prince Poroye also assured residents of renewed attention to the Aboto–Atijere Road project, reaffirming OSOPADEC’s broader commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the welfare of oil-producing communities.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Ugbo Ward 3 APC Chairman, Chief Felix Mebawondun, commended the Chairman for his inclusive leadership style and ongoing engagement with communities affected by sea incursion. He highlighted the Commission’s recent collaboration with technical teams from Ghana and China as evidence of the government’s seriousness in tackling long-standing environmental challenges.

Chief Mebawondun further appealed for improved welfare for party members, noting that with the State Governor coming from the area, expectations for accelerated development remain high.

Top management officials present at the meeting included the Executive Director of Finance, Malam Mallon Ogbaro; the Commission Secretary, Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, PhD; the Director of Administration and Supplies, Ap. ’Sola Orisamoluwa; and other senior officials.
