Traditional Leader Boosts NUJ Facilities with Snooker Board Donation

26th November, 2025

The Bobaselu of Odigbo Kingdom, Chief Akindele Omole, FCA, on Monday donated a snooker board to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council.

During the official presentation at the NUJ Press Centre in Akure, Chief Omole said the donation reflected his commitment to supporting journalists in the state and enhancing their overall well-being.

He noted that journalists play a vital role in shaping society, adding that providing recreational facilities helps them relax and stay energised for the demands of their profession.

The Chartered Accountant explained that the gesture also represented his personal effort to deepen the bond between the traditional institution and the media.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the NUJ Ondo State Council, Prince Leke Adegbite, thanked the Bobaselu for the thoughtful contribution. He described Chief Omole as a steadfast supporter of the union and praised his continual solidarity with journalists in the state.

Adegbite said the snooker board would strengthen the recreational offerings at the Press Centre, giving journalists a healthy avenue to unwind after work.

He called on other public-spirited individuals and organisations to follow Chief Omole’s example.

The ceremony was attended by members of the NUJ State Executive Council and other stakeholders.

The donation also marks the introduction of Billiards (Snooker) among the sporting activities for the ongoing 2025 NUJ Press Week Games.
