AINPN to Honour Ondo CP Adebowale Lawal as  Security Icon

Date: 4th December,2025

The Association of Independent Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (AINPN), Ondo State Council, has announced that the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, will be conferred with the Public Safety and Security Icon Award during its 2025 Newspaper Publishers Week.

The recognition will be presented on Friday, 19th December 2025, at the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Event Centre, adjacent to the Ondo State Board of Internal Revenue, Igbatoro Road, Akure.

Since assuming office in Ondo State, CP Lawal has been credited with drastically reducing crime rates through sustained clampdowns on armed robbers, kidnappers, ritualists, vehicle theft syndicates, motorcycle theft rings, and cult-related activities. His relentless security strategies have reportedly restored a heightened sense of safety among residents across the Sunshine State.

Known for his tireless work ethic, the Commissioner of Police is said to remain vigilant to ensure that residents “sleep with their two eyes closed.” As the festive season approaches, he has placed officers and men of the command on red alert, directing them to comb all corners of the state to apprehend criminal elements who might be planning to cause havoc before, during, or after the Yuletide period.

The AINPN explained that the award is a recognition of CP Lawal’s outstanding contributions to enhancing the protection of lives and property since he assumed duty in the state.

Several distinguished Nigerians will also be honoured at the ceremony, including Dr. Damilola Oshin, Bishop Felix Adejumo, Dr. Niyi Ijogun, Eyesorun Deji of Akure, MHR Adelegbe, Hon. Balarabe Abiodun Akinwumi, Comrade Bola Taiwo, Ambassador Ademola Odudu, Alhaji and Alhaja Alaro, among others.

The event will feature a public lecture, cultural displays, launching activities, conferment of awards, and other side attractions.
