Fasua: Ondo LG Election Is Free, Fair, and Credible

By Exponent News, Akure – January 18, 2024

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Akure South Local Government chairmanship, Hon. Fasua Gbenga, has hailed the ongoing local government elections in Ondo State as free, fair, and credible. Speaking with journalists at Polling Unit 5, Ward 10 in Akure, Fasua commended the smooth process of the election, noting that voters were exercising their rights without any hindrance.

“The election has been credible, and I must give credit to the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) for their efforts,” Fasua stated. “The materials arrived on time, and election officers were punctual. Everything is proceeding smoothly, and the turnout in my unit has been encouraging.”

Fasua, a former Secretary of Akure South Local Government and traditional chairman, also addressed his motivation for vying for the chairmanship position. “The demands of the people pushed me to contest. They want leadership that will bring positive change,” he explained, emphasizing his desire to continue serving his community and improve its governance.

         Mr Olayinka Akosile

In a separate interview, Mr. Olayinka Akosile, a former Special Adviser to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Mobilization, expressed his gratitude for the peaceful conduct of the election. He commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for organizing the election, noting that it had been a long time since such an exercise took place in the state. Akosile also praised the security forces for ensuring a peaceful process and expressed confidence in an APC victory.

The local government elections in Ondo are ongoing, with high voter participation and a generally smooth process reported across various polling units.
