By Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State – January 18, 2025

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Saturday participated in the state’s local government election, emphasizing that the exercise marks a significant step towards promoting grassroots development.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who cast his vote at Polling Unit 5, Ugbo Ward 4 in Ilaje Local Government Area, reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the local government system in the state in line with legal provisions. He expressed satisfaction with the electoral process and commended the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) for the smooth and efficient conduct of the election.

In an interview following his vote, Governor Aiyedatiwa thanked the people of Ondo State for their active participation in the election and emphasized the importance of local government autonomy in fostering community development and empowerment.

The Governor’s participation and endorsement of the electoral process underscored his administration’s focus on decentralizing power to the grassroots, ensuring greater responsiveness and development at the local government level.
