Ondo LG Polls: IPAC Commends Stakeholders for Successful Election

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Ondo State, led by Prince Olaoluwa Adesanya, has praised the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) for the smooth and successful conduct of the local government elections held on Saturday.

In a statement issued by IPAC, Prince Adesanya expressed gratitude to Dr. Aremo Joseph, Chairman of ODIEC, for overseeing an election that has been widely recognized as free, fair, credible, and transparent.

He commended the professionalism of the electoral body, particularly its prompt response to an unexpected situation where an election in a local government was canceled due to a printing error in the ballot papers. Adesanya noted that ODIEC’s ability to reschedule and conduct the election within 24 hours was impressive, showcasing the commission’s commitment to democratic values.

The IPAC chairman also highlighted the peaceful nature of the election, pointing out that despite a high voter turnout across the state, there were no reports of violence or casualties. He attributed this success to the maturity and discipline exhibited by all political stakeholders, including voters, political parties, and candidates.

Prince Adesanya further expressed appreciation to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for maintaining neutrality throughout the election process, which he said fostered an environment of fairness and inclusivity, contributing to the credibility of the electoral exercise.

He also praised the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, under the chairmanship of Engr. Ade Adetimehin, for demonstrating political maturity and ensuring peaceful conduct among party members during and after the election.

Adesanya acknowledged the valuable contributions of opposition parties, whose cooperation and participation highlighted the strength of democracy in Ondo State.

“Congratulations to all the winners of the election,” Adesanya stated. “This victory is not just for the candidates, but for democracy in Ondo State. The peaceful and credible conduct of the election is a testament to the collective efforts of all stakeholders involved.”

IPAC also emphasized the importance of the newly elected local government officials prioritizing good governance and the welfare of the people. The council urged them to fulfill their campaign promises and work towards the development of their respective areas.

The council reiterated its commitment to fostering unity and collaboration among political parties in Ondo State to ensure the continued growth and success of democracy in the state.
