Akungba Agog as OAUSTECH VC Bids Ologunorisa Patriarch Farewell

The ancient town of Akungba-Akoko in Ondo State, Nigeria, was abuzz on Friday, January 31, 2025, as the community and Nigerians from all walks of life gathered to bid a final farewell to the late Pa Gabriel Adelabu Ologunorisa.

The 93-year-old patriarch of the Ododo clan and father of Prof. Temiloluwa Emmanuel Ologunorisa, Vice-Chancellor of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, was laid to rest in a magnificent ceremony.

The funeral rites began on Thursday, January 30, 2025, with a wake at his residence in Akunmi Quarters, Akungba-Akoko.

Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele, President of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Nigeria and Overseas, delivered a poignant sermon at the funeral service of Pa Ologunorisa, held at No. 1, CAC, Akunmi, Akungba-Akoko. He urged Nigerians to strive for a life of godliness, honesty, impact, and benevolence.

Extolling the virtues of the deceased, Pastor Oladele emphasized that Pa Ologunorisa’s dedicated and impactful life was evident in the massive turnout at his burial. “As humans, we are created to live purposeful lives, treating others with kindness and compassion,” he stressed. “Our judgment in the afterlife depends on the life we live here on earth.”

Pastor Oladele concluded by encouraging the deceased’s family, especially the children, to emulate their father’s exemplary legacy. “Let us strive to live a life that honours God and benefits humanity, just as Pa Ologunorisa did,” he admonished.

In an emotional interview with newsmen, Prof. Temiloluwa Emmanuel Ologunorisa, Vice-Chancellor of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), paid a heartfelt tribute to his late father, Pa Gabriel Adelabu Ologunorisa.

“I will deeply miss his unconditional love, discipline, and inspiration, which had a profound impact on my life, particularly in my pursuit of education and excellence,” Prof. Ologunorisa said, his voice filled with nostalgia.

He described his father as a visionary, fearless, and audacious individual who left an indelible mark on everyone around him. “His love, support, and guidance extended beyond our family to the community, and the outpouring of grief today is a testament to his remarkable legacy.”

Prof. Ologunorisa concluded, “He was a pillar of strength to our family and the community, and his absence will be deeply felt. We will miss him dearly.”

Mr. Samuel Tomi Ologunorisa (SAN), founder of Sam Maris University, Supare-Akoko, paid a heartfelt tribute to his late father, Pa Gabriel Adelabu Ologunorisa.
