In a momentous ceremony held at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure on Monday, 24th February 2025, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa was inaugurated as the 7th democratically elected Governor of Ondo State. His speech marked the beginning of a new chapter in the state’s governance, laying out a robust blueprint for growth and development over the next four years.
Aiyedatiwa expressed deep gratitude to the people of Ondo State, acknowledging their unwavering support and trust, and paying tribute to the late Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his transformative leadership. Reflecting on the challenges and progress of the past, he emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort in moving the state forward.
In his inaugural address, Aiyedatiwa outlined a comprehensive 7-point policy agenda under the theme “O’DATIWA O’ DIRORUN,” which translates to “Our Ease.” This policy aims to address key areas including security, agriculture, technology, healthcare, infrastructure, and education, with a focus on improving the quality of life for all residents.
Highlighting plans for significant infrastructural development, Aiyedatiwa promised to prioritize investments in renewable energy, healthcare, and urban renewal while enhancing Ondo’s agricultural and blue economy potentials. The Governor also pledged to continue building on the successes of his predecessor and deliver a state that is both economically prosperous and socially inclusive.
With a clear vision for the future, Aiyedatiwa called on all citizens, including opposition parties, to join hands in fostering peace and working towards a shared goal of prosperity. His commitment to good governance, transparency, and sustainable development resonated as he took the oath of office, signaling a renewed hope for Ondo State’s progress.
