The Nigeria Alumni Network of the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, at the weekend rolled out the red carpet to honour the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

The Governor was bestowed with an award in political and business leadership, in recognition of his contributions to nation building, public service excellence and social entrepreneurship.

This took place at the annual event of the University of Liverpool Nigeria Alumni Network (Lagos/Southwest Zone) in Lagos on Saturday.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who is also an alumnus of the University of Liverpool, was hailed for being a good ambassador of the institution.

In his response, the Governor thanked the leadership of the alumni association for the recognition, saying the award is a challenge to do more.

He said: “I want to thank the leadership of University of Liverpool, Nigeria Alumni Network (Lagos/Southwest Zone) for putting this together. Honestly, I am so delighted to be here, not because of the award but to see everyone of you once again.

“We continue to put in our best as much as we can for humanity, the development of our society and the empowerment of our people and I want to thank you for recognising our modest efforts.”

Earlier, in her welcome remarks, the Coordinator of the group, Dr. Joy Dorcan, said the event was an avenue for members of the alumni to network and bond with one another.

Speaking on behalf of the University of Liverpool, Anita Irving thanked the alumni members for keeping the flag of the institution flying in their various fields across the world.

Dr. Biodun Adedipe, in his keynote address tagged “the Power of Relationships”, said there is no limit to alumni networking, emphasizing that it is a community whose strength is in the function of the value delivered to its members.

Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan,
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State.
