An All Progressives Congress chieftain in the state, Otunba Tayo Adu, has expressed his thoughts concerning the political atmosphere in Ondo State, describing it as relatively peaceful under the current leadership of His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

Speaking on a live national television program today titled “Ondo Political Terrain,” Otunba Tayo Adu explained that, considering the cohesion in the APC as a party today and how it is being managed by the party’s leadership, things are progressing peacefully and normally in both the party and the state across the three senatorial districts by His grace.

In another development, Otunba Tayo Adu also stated that the Governor was able to scale through all the political hullabaloo that transpired in the party before securing the party ticket due to the reconciliation initiatives set up by party stakeholders. Thereafter, the Governor was able to gain the loyalty of both party members and the public, which led to his victory in the November 16, 2024 election, making him the Executive Governor of the state.

His words: “There was a lot of reconciliation in the party, and it didn’t take long to resolve because many people came together to work for the collective interest of the state.”

Otunba Tayo Adu added that even within a family circle, rifts normally occur, and when they happen, there is a need for both parties to come together and resolve their differences. He emphasized that whenever misunderstandings or misinterpretations arise, there must be a way to fine-tune such problems, and Ondo State was no exception when it came to political misunderstandings among party loyalists.

He expressed confidence in the leadership of His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, highlighting how he has successfully fostered realignment and unity within the party for the state’s progress and development. He stated that the agility and wisdom demonstrated by the Governor’s leadership have been instrumental in the party’s and the state’s success.

According to him, the leadership style of His Excellency has made it difficult for the opposition party in the state to thrive politically, as the APC defeated them 18-0 in the last election.

Similarly, Otunba Tayo Adu, in response to the abundant oil and gas deposits in the state—which make Ondo State one of the wealthiest states in the country—said, “Anybody talking about the performance of the present Governor would know that Mr. Governor has been doing well by utilizing the state’s natural resources to drive infrastructural advancement.”

According to Adu, massive construction and rehabilitation of roads and other projects have been ongoing in the state to the extent that even a blind man could feel the pulse of the development taking place.

Speaking further, Adu said Ondo State has been advancing beyond what it used to be in almost all sectors. He stated that the state was fortunate to have Mr. Governor at this particular time.

When asked what this Governor would be remembered for or what his key achievements have been in the last few months, Otunba Adu had this to say:

“Well, this government just came on board on February 24, 2025, after completing the tenure of his predecessor, but the Governor has been performing well. He has improved the security architecture of the state to combat insecurity. The last communiqué issued by the Ondo NUJ on security issues in the state commended the government, which shows that peace has been returning to most of the communities affected by insecurity due to the state government’s efforts to improve security by empowering the security agencies protecting the lives and property of the good people of Ondo State.”

He expressed his opinion on how there has been synergy among security agencies in the state, working together to combat insecurity as established by the government to ensure that the state remains safe for all.

He concluded by stating that Ondo State is peaceful, its people are doing well, and the state government has successfully empowered security agencies to counter the hoodlums causing problems in the state, ensuring it remains safe for everyone to conduct their businesses.
