AKURE — In a bid to strengthen community collaboration and enhance security across Ondo and Ekiti States, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 17, Akure, AIG Ajani Musibau Omolabi, psc(+), paid a courtesy visit to the Deji of Akure Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, at his palace on Monday, April 15, 2024.

The visit was part of the AIG’s ongoing familiarization tour following his recent assumption of duty as the Zonal Commander. During the visit, AIG Ajani formally introduced himself to the monarch and appealed for the sustained support and cooperation of the traditional institution in tackling security challenges in the zone.

He emphasized the importance of a holistic approach to security, pledging to be a proactive officer committed to reducing criminal activities to the barest minimum across the zone. “I’m not here to be an armchair officer. I am here to work with stakeholders to ensure peace and safety across our communities,” he stated.

In response, the Deji of Akure welcomed the AIG warmly and commended the visit as a step in the right direction. He reiterated that leadership is rooted in the security and welfare of the people, emphasizing the role of peace in achieving meaningful development.

The monarch assured AIG Ajani of his full support and cooperation, noting that the palace doors are always open to him without protocol. He wished the AIG a successful and impactful tenure in office.

The visit underscores the growing emphasis on community-police partnerships as a critical tool in combating insecurity in Nigeria.
