Man Jailed for Forgery and Fraud in Ondo State
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has secured a conviction against one Fabunmi Omoniyi Samson, who has been sentenced to one year and two months imprisonment for forgery and obtaining money under false pretence.
The judgment was delivered on May 13, 2025, by His Worship Ayunus Musa of the Chief Magistrate Court, Oke-Eda, Court 1, in Ondo State. The defendant was arraigned on a three-count charge of forgery, perjury, and fraudulently obtaining ₦1,000,000 from Compassionate Backers Limited using forged documents and a fake repayment alert.
Samson was found guilty on two counts and sentenced to one year in prison for the first charge and two months for the third, with an option of a fine.
In a bid to ensure restorative justice, the court also invoked Section 296(3) of the Ondo State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, mandating the convict to pay ₦630,000 in compensation to the complainant, having earlier refunded ₦570,000 of the defrauded sum.
