Crime Control: Ilaje LG Chairman Urges Security Agencies to Be More Proactive

By Exponent News | July 5, 2025

Ilaje, Ondo State – In a determined effort to strengthen the security architecture of Ilaje Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Amona Maurice Oripenaye (ARAH), has convened a high-level security meeting with key stakeholders, urging security agencies to demonstrate greater commitment and dedication to their duties in combating crime and insecurity across the area.

The strategic meeting, which took place on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Local Government Secretariat in Igbokoda, brought together top local government management staff, chairmen of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), heads of military and paramilitary agencies, and other key stakeholders in the community.

Hon. Oripenaye explained that the purpose of the engagement was to deliberate on prevailing security issues and devise effective strategies in alignment with the State Government’s “OUR EASE” security agenda. He emphasized that addressing security challenges at the grassroots level requires collective action and the development of new security measures and operational tactics.

“The security of lives and property is a shared responsibility. It must not be left to security agencies alone,” the Chairman noted. “The public has a vital role to play by providing timely and credible information to the appropriate authorities. This will go a long way in boosting the efficiency and effectiveness of our security personnel.”

He added that such stakeholder engagements are aimed at enhancing synergy between the local government and security agencies, thereby fostering better collaboration and accountability in maintaining peace and order in Ilaje.

Hon. Oripenaye expressed confidence that the renewed commitment of all stakeholders, especially security operatives, would help create a safer and more peaceful environment for residents of Ilaje Local Government.
