The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested four individuals in connection with a burglary incident at the Peace and Joy Community, Oba Ile, Akure.

The suspects were apprehended following a complaint lodged by the owner  who reported that her residence  was broken into on Sunday, July 9, 2025, while she was at church. Several valuable items, including an Apple iPad, foodstuffs, household equipment, and clothing, were carted away.

Acting swiftly on the report, NSCDC operatives tracked the SIM card used in the stolen iPad, which led to the arrest of the following suspects:

1. James Emmanuel Reuben, 23, a student

2. Monday Reuben, 19, a student

3. Japason Joshua, 21, a farmer from Gombe

4. Lucas Joshua, 23, a farmer from Gombe

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, James Emmanuel, who served as a “soft target” and assisted investigators in apprehending the others, has been granted bail on legal advice.

The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime, and a subsequent search at their residence led to the recovery of most of the stolen items were recovered and handed over to the owner. The community, which has experienced a string of burglary cases in recent times, has welcomed the arrests with relief.

The NSCDC has urged members of the public to remain alert and to continue providing credible and timely information to aid law enforcement efforts in keeping Ondo State safe.
