Ondo APC Leaders Endorse Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election Bid as Aiyedatiwa Hosts State Caucus Meeting

Akure — August 2, 2025

In a significant move to galvanize the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, leaders of the party in Ondo State have unanimously endorsed the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, launching a support structure tagged ‘Ondo State for Tinubu 2027’.

This decision was reached on Friday during a strategic meeting of the Ondo State APC Leaders Caucus convened by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa at the Government House Banquet Hall, Akure.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who presided over the meeting, emphasized the need for unity and collective responsibility among party members to strengthen the APC’s dominance in the state. He disclosed plans to institutionalize regular meetings of the State Caucus, modeled after the National Caucus of the party, to foster inclusiveness and strategic planning.

“Our party remains supreme, and every group or interest must operate under its structure. The Caucus will now meet regularly to ensure alignment and effective coordination,” the Governor said.

He also used the occasion to brief the leaders on his administration’s developmental strides since assuming office in February, as well as the forthcoming Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, an initiative of the National Economic Council aimed at deepening grassroots development.

Highlighting the significance of the meeting, party leaders, including serving and former federal and state lawmakers, ex-principal officers of the Ondo State House of Assembly, and past and present party executives, pledged their unwavering support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

To drive the activities of the Caucus, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, and the APC State Secretary, Mrs. Roseline Okafor, were appointed as coordinators of the Caucus Secretariat.

Present at the meeting were Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, former Deputy Governors Alhaji Ali Olanusi and Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, Senators Jide Ipinsagba (Ondo North) and Adeniyi Adegbonmire (Ondo Central), and several former Senators.

Also in attendance were the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, along with former Speakers Kenneth Olawale, Victor Olabimtan, and Bamidele Oleyelogun, among other top-ranking party stakeholders.

Speaking to journalists after the session, Hon. Derin Adesida, representing Akure North/South Federal Constituency, described the meeting as a constitutional gathering designed to deliberate on the party’s direction and strategies.

APC stalwarts, Ambassador Sola Iji and Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa’s proactive leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to working with him to ensure the APC’s continued success in Ondo State.
