SECURITY OPERATIVES INTERCEPT HARD DRUGS IN IFEDORE, CP ORDERS CRACKDOWN ON UNMARKED VEHICLES AND MASKED MOTORCYCLISTS

Admin. 20th August,2025

Security operatives in Ondo State have intercepted a vehicle loaded with crystal methamphetamine and other illicit drugs during a stop-and-search operation at Ilaramokin, Ifedore Local Government Area.

The interception, which took place on August 17, 2025, at about 12:15 p.m., was carried out by a team of officers led by ASP Amos Ayuba. The vehicle was discovered to be using a fake number plate stolen from another car. All suspects are now in custody as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abayomi Adebowale Lawal, PSC+, MNIPS, described the operation as a significant success in the fight against crime. He emphasized the importance of routine checkpoints and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and security-conscious.

Following the development, the CP has directed that henceforth:

All unmarked vehicles without registration numbers,

Vehicles or motorcycles with covered plate numbers, dealer’s numbers, or unauthorized student numbers, and

Motorcyclists wearing hoods or masks

should be promptly arrested, their vehicles impounded, and suspects prosecuted after investigations.

Earlier today, the Commissioner met with leaders of commercial motorcyclists (Okada riders) across the state to sensitize them on the new directives. He warned that anyone using motorcycles as cover for criminal activities would face the full weight of the law.

The Command assured residents of its commitment to crime prevention in line with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, which emphasizes proactive policing, intelligence-driven operations, and citizens’ partnership in security management.

Residents are urged to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station, Security Post, or through the Command’s emergency helplines.
