Justice Olusegun Aiyedun Odusola  elevated to the post of CJ of Ondo State

 

Publisher of Coastal Renaissance news, Hon. Taiwo Ilesanmi Gbamila, has congratulated first Ilaje man to become State High Court Judge, Justice Olusegun Aiyedun Odusola as he was elevated by Nigeria Judicial Council, NJC to the post of Chief Judge of Ondo State.

Justice Olusegun Ayedun Odusola has been celebrated specially by Ilaje sons and daughters home and abroad because of his outstanding record of attainments. Some years back, he had broken the record of FIRST ILAJE MAN to become the State High Court Judge and now FIRST ILAJE MAN to become the Chief Judge of Ondo State. These monumental achievements have attracted many people in and outside Ondo State to celebrate him.

Justice Olusegun Odusola was the Acting Chief Judge for some weeks before his was confirmed as the substantive Chief Judge of Ondo state.

Justice Olusegun Odusola replaced Justice Williams Akintoroye who retired late last year.

HONOURABLE JUSTICE AIYEDUN OLUSEGUN ODUSOLA AT A GLANCE

Honourable Justice Olusegun Aiyedun Odusola, was born on 24th July, 1958 at Ojumole, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

He attended L.A. Primary School, Yaye, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State between 1965 and 1970. He proceeded to Stella Maris College, Okitipupa, Ondo State and passed out in 1977. In 1978, he was admitted to Special Sixth Form College, Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State and obtained his HSC in 1980. Also, in 1980, he was admitted to the University of Calabar to study Law and graduated in 1984. He proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Lagos and passed out in 1985. In 2003, he obtained a Masters degree in Law (LLM) at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.

Between 1977 and 1979, he worked as Clerical Officer in Ilaje/Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State. He did his NYSC at Land Authority, Port Harcourt, River State between 1985 and 1986. Also, he worked as a Legal Practitioner at Elenujuni Odusola & Co, Okitipupa, Ondo State between 1986 and 2002.

He was a Member, Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Chieftaincy tussle in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State between July and December 2000. In 2002, he was elevated to the position of High Court Judge, Ondo State Judiciary, Akure- the position which he occupies till he was confirmed CJ, Ondo State.

Between 16th May, 2007 and 29th February, 2008, he was a Member, Governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, Benue State. Between 4th May, 2009 and 9th July, 2009, he was a Member, Governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly Election Petition Re-trial Tribunal, Anambra State. Also, between 1st August, 2009 and 11th November, 2009, he was a Member, Governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly Election Petition Re-trial/Re-run Tribunal, Rivers State. From 11th January, 2010 to 23rd March, 2010, he was a Member, Governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, Bayelsa State. In addition, between 7th April and 17th June, 2010, he was a Member, Governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly Election Petition Re-run Tribunal, Oyo State.

Before attaining his present state he had held many other positions, which include: Light Prefect/Captain Special Sixth Form College, Ikare-Akoko between 1978 and 1980. Secretary Club Maximus, Okitipupa between 1992 and 1994. Financial Secretary, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Okitipupa branch between 1992 and 1995. Vice Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Okitipupa branch between 1999 and 2002 and Legal Adviser, Club 90, Igbokoda, Ondo State between 1991 and 2000.

In the process of his career progression, he had attended many courses, including the following: Refresher course on High Court practice and procedure for newly appointed Judges organised by Centre for Law and Development, between 27th and 31st January, 2003. Induction course for newly appointed Judges and Kadis organised by N.J.I., Abuja between 2nd and 13th June, 2003. Refresher course for High Court Judges, Kadis and Judges of the Customary Court of Appeal organised by N.J.I., Abuja between 13th and 16th April, 2004. Executive stress management workshop organised by Byron Institute at Abuja between 23rd and 24th February, 2005. Refresher course for Judges and Kadis organised by N.J.I. Abuja between 23rd and 27th March, 2009. Also, 2009 all Nigeria Judges conference, Abuja between 16th and 20th November, 2009. International Bar Association annual conference, Vancouver Canada between 3rd and 8th October, 2010. International Bar Association annual conference, Dubai between 30th October and 4th November, 2011. Also, 2011 all Nigeria Judges conference, Abuja between 21st and 25th November, 2011.
