* No more abandoned projects

In a landmark move signaling renewed commitment and fresh momentum, Prince Olabiyi Olaleye Poroye, Executive Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), has vowed to end the long-standing challenge of abandoned projects across the Commission’s jurisdiction.

Addressing contractors and senior management at OSOPADEC’s Corporate Headquarters in Oba-Ile, Akure North, on Monday, Poroye declared emphatically that the era of half-finished projects and excuses was over. With OSOPADEC poised to mark its 25th anniversary next year, the Chairman emphasized that the Commission’s achievements must finally match its age.

“OSOPADEC will be 25 years old next year, yet the achievements of the Commission do not match its age. That must change,” Poroye stated, met with enthusiastic applause. “We are introducing systemic principles where the system works for itself. This is our vision and our passion.”

Acknowledging the obstacles that have previously hindered project completion, especially payment delays, Poroye promised a fundamental shift in how OSOPADEC operates. “Money for the contractors will not be a problem,” he affirmed, stressing that timely payments are crucial to project success. He also highlighted Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s firm commitment to the timely release of funds, reinforcing the administration’s dedication to accelerating development in oil-producing areas.

The high-level meeting, which included Executive Directors and board members, provided a platform to openly discuss challenges, review progress on ongoing projects, and chart a clear path forward. Poroye’s call for renewed energy and a transformed mindset resonated strongly with contractors, many of whom described the engagement as “a breath of fresh air.”

“Our people in the oil-producing areas deserve better,” Poroye concluded. “We will work with you to succeed by ensuring that every project we start is completed, functional, and beneficial to our people.”

With this bold commitment, OSOPADEC is setting its sights on becoming a model of efficiency and transparency, marking a turning point toward a future of sustainable development and tangible achievements for the communities it serves. The renewed focus on accountability and delivery signals a promising new chapter, as the Commission prepares to celebrate its silver jubilee with a legacy of impact and progress.
