Ugbonla–Ayetoro Road Completion Prioritized by Ondo State Government – OSOPADEC Chair

The Ondo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing the long-abandoned Ugbonla–Ayetoro Road project, with the road’s final phase now a top priority, according to the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Olabiyi Olaleye Poroye.

Speaking after a recent meeting in Abuja with the Managing Director of Setraco Nigeria Limited (SNL), Engr. Ziad Mouannes, Poroye said Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has directed OSOPADEC to revisit and complete all abandoned projects within the mandate areas, citing the Ugbonla–Erunna/Ayetoro axis (Phase III) as a key focus.

The road project, awarded to Setraco in December 2010, was originally designed to cover 4.72 kilometers, including a 1.2-kilometer spur into Ugbonla town. Construction began in March 2011 but stalled in 2013 after the contractor withdrew due to issues related to price reviews and funding.

Poroye described the project as a “test case” for the current administration’s resolve to address long-neglected infrastructure in oil-producing communities.
