Police Rescue Kidnapped Woman, Arrest Four Suspects in Akure

A swift response by operatives of the Ondo State Police Command has led to the rescue of a kidnapped woman and the arrest of four suspects in Akure, the state capital.

The rescue followed a timely alert from a public-spirited citizen, which enabled police officers to act quickly and foil what could have become another tragic abduction case in the state.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the incident occurred on November 4, 2025, around 6:30 p.m., when a Good Samaritan informed the police that four young men, driving an unregistered Toyota Camry (popularly known as Muscle Camry), had forcefully abducted a lady and were heading toward the Shoprite Roundabout in Akure.

Police teams from the Command were immediately mobilized, and through coordinated efforts, they intercepted the vehicle, rescued the victim, and arrested all four suspects without delay.

The victim was later identified as Adebayo Oluwaseun, who was abducted along Weluwelu Street, Ilekun, Oda, and was being taken to an unknown destination before the police intervened.

The unregistered Toyota Camry used in the operation has been recovered as evidence, while investigations continue to uncover further details about the suspects and their motive.

Commending the professionalism of the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, praised both the swift response of the command and the timely information provided by the vigilant citizen. He emphasized that such collaboration between the police and the public remains vital to effective policing.

Lawal further noted that the successful rescue operation reflects the leadership vision of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, whose reforms have continued to strengthen proactive crime prevention and enhance public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
