As the world marks World AIDS Day today, December 1, 2025, the Ondo State Directorate of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on residents to take informed steps to protect themselves, their families, and their communities from the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Aligning with the National HIV Strategy, NOA is urging citizens to prioritize the prevention of new infections, particularly among adolescents and young people while also working to eliminate barriers that limit access to life-saving health services.

In a press statement issued on Monday, the Ondo State Director of NOA, Mr. James Adekunle, stressed that HIV is preventable through consistent condom use, abstinence, and faithful partnerships. He encouraged residents to know their HIV status by visiting the nearest health facility or approved testing point for early testing.

“HIV is not a moral failing; it is a health condition that can be managed, We must treat everyone with dignity, support friends and family living with HIV, promote safe practices, encourage testing, and strengthen community health outreaches.” Adekunle stated.

He outlined key messages for World AIDS Day 2025, including preventing new infections, safeguarding adolescents and young people, ending stigma and discrimination, and ensuring that treatment remains effective.

Mr. Adekunle reaffirmed NOA’s commitment to mobilizing communities, promoting accurate information, and ensuring no resident is left behind in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Agency therefore encourages the public to participate actively in NOA programmes and partner initiatives aimed at reducing new infections across the country.
