Aiyedatiwa Launches APC E-Registration, Emphasises Data-Driven Party Growth

29th December, 2025
Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration exercise in the state, describing it as a strategic step toward strengthening the party’s growth, credibility and long-term planning.
The governor performed the formal flag-off on Monday during the APC e-registration training exercise held at the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) Hall, Akure.
Speaking at the event, Governor Aiyedatiwa said party members must clearly understand both the importance and the challenges associated with the registration exercise, noting that its success would shape the future of the party.
He explained that the initiative aligns with the long-standing vision of President Bola Tinubu, which, according to him, predates his emergence as President, stressing that the current exercise represents the actualisation of that vision.
The governor noted that the e-registration process was not only significant to the APC as a political party but also to President Tinubu as its national leader.
“This underscores how crucial this exercise is. It is very, very important to our party and to the leader of our party, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged party members to show commitment by taking the exercise seriously, advising that mobilisation should be driven by persuasion and influence rather than coercion.
He added that the registration process would promote fairness and equalisation, as all members would be captured within the same system and timeline, stressing that he was personally setting the pace.
Emphasising accuracy and diligence, the governor encouraged participants undergoing training to pay close attention to details, describing the exercise as highly technology-driven.
He further stated that information, education, skills and ICT now drive modern economies and should equally be deployed in managing political parties more efficiently.
According to him, a credible database would enable the party to properly identify its members, plan effectively and strengthen its internal democratic processes.
Governor Aiyedatiwa disclosed that the exercise has a defined timeline and is expected to end on January 31, giving party officials approximately 33 to 34 days to register as many members as possible.
He said trainees were selected from different wards, local governments and districts across the state and were expected to cascade the training to others, noting that their selection reflected the party’s confidence in their abilities.
The governor urged party officials to ensure that all willing members, including new entrants and those previously registered manually, were fully captured before the deadline.
He added that his personal attendance at the event was to further underscore the importance of the exercise, charging the trainees not to disappoint the party leadership.
Also speaking, the APC National Vice Chairman (South-West), Hon. Isaac Kekemeke, said the electronic registration exercise was crucial to strengthening the party’s structure, internal democracy and credibility ahead of future congresses and primary elections.
Kekemeke said the timing of the exercise demonstrated the seriousness with which the APC treats party affairs, explaining that the registration was designed to achieve several objectives.
According to him, the first objective is to provide the party with verifiable and credible membership data nationwide. The second is to ensure that new members are fully integrated as equal stakeholders, while the third is to build a reliable database for congresses and primary elections. The fourth, he added, is to ensure members become regular and financially active participants in the party.
He disclosed that the exercise is being personally driven by President Bola Tinubu, with the full backing of APC governors across the country, noting that the party is relying on state governors to ensure its success at the sub-national level.
In his welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Legislative Matters and Party Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Kolawole, said the APC embarked on the electronic registration to establish a credible, technology-driven membership database nationwide.
Kolawole explained that the database would eliminate fictitious entries, ensure accurate records and improve transparency and accountability within the party.
He commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for providing leadership for the programme, noting that despite the short notice, the governor mobilised the required resources and approvals to make the training exercise possible.
Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami; Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa; members of the State Executive Council; local government chairmen; Director-General of OSRC Media Group, Mr Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson; political appointees; senior government officials and other party stakeholders.
