Just In: Police Rescue Wounded Victim

The Ondo State Police have rescued a seriously wounded young man this morning in front of St. Matthias’ Anglican High School, Akure. The young man sustained deep cuts all over his body, allegedly inflicted by unknown persons.
Information gathered at the scene suggested that the victim might be an okada rider who was attacked early in the morning by a group of people attempting to snatch his motorcycle. Another account revealed that the man could be a suspected thief who allegedly robbed some nearby houses and was beaten to a state near coma while trying to escape from the scene.
Meanwhile, policemen from the “A” Division arrived at the scene and lifted the injured man into their Hilux patrol vehicle. As at the time of this report, the young man is still breathing. When he regained partial consciousness and was being carried from the pavement where he had been dumped by his attackers into the police vehicle, he reportedly asked, “What did I do?” The officers responded that they were only trying to rescue him.
As of the time of filing this report, the injured man remains inside the police Hilux, as the officers were reluctant to take him to the hospital due to concerns over who would stay with him and take responsibility for his medical bills.
