
Police Recover Missing Seven-Year-Old Girl in Ondo Community
The Ondo State Police Command has recovered a seven-year-old girl found wandering alone in Odigbo town, sparking an investigation to locate her parents and determine how she ended up in the area.
According to the police, the child was brought to the Odigbo Divisional Police Headquarters on Friday, February 7, 2026, at about 9:00 p.m. by a resident, Mr. Adebayo, 44, who reportedly found her roaming unattended along Orita area of Odigbo.
During preliminary questioning, the girl identified herself as Azeez Baliki and disclosed that she resides at Idi-Ose, Ibadan, Oyo State, where she attends Glorious Primary School.
Police authorities said the child has been placed under protective custody to ensure her safety, while investigations are ongoing to trace her parents or lawful guardians and to establish the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and movement to Ondo State.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable persons, particularly children, and appealed to members of the public with useful information to assist the police.
