OAU Don, Segun Aina, Emerges New JAMB Registrar
The Federal Government has appointed Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), bringing to the examination body years of experience in academia, technology, and engineering consultancy.
Professor Aina, a renowned scholar in Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, is widely recognised for his contributions to digital technology and innovation in Nigeria’s education sector.
He reportedly became a professor at the age of 39, making him one of the youngest academics to attain the rank in his field in the country.
The newly appointed JAMB registrar obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent before proceeding to Loughborough University where he earned a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security, as well as a PhD in Digital Signal Processing.
His areas of research include Digital Signal Processing, Pattern Classification, Image Processing, and Object Recognition.
Beyond academics, Aina co-founded Fluid Click Solutions Ltd, an information technology and engineering project management firm. He has also served as a consultant to several government agencies and examination bodies across Nigeria.
Observers believe his appointment could strengthen JAMB’s technology-driven operations and examination management system.
