Aiyedatiwa Raises Workers’ Loan Limits, Approves ₦500m Fresh Funding for Car, Housing Schemes
Akure, Sept. 25, 2026 —
Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved upward reviews of car loans, housing loans and Duty Tour Allowances for workers in the state public service, alongside an additional ₦500 million seed fund for the workers’ car and housing loan schemes.
The approvals, announced on Friday by the State Head of Service, Chief Segun Odusanya, are aimed at addressing the impact of inflation and rising costs on public servants and improving the effectiveness of the existing welfare schemes.
Odusanya said the Governor’s decision followed a recognition that the existing loan ceilings had been significantly eroded by prevailing economic conditions and were no longer adequate to meet the needs for which the schemes were established.
He disclosed that the Car Loan and Housing Loan schemes were last reviewed in 2013, making a fresh review necessary in view of the current economic realities.
According to him, rising inflation, escalating construction costs and increasing vehicle prices had substantially reduced the purchasing power of the existing loan ceilings.
“The new approval by Mr. Governor is intended to restore the effectiveness of these welfare schemes by aligning the loan ceilings with prevailing economic realities, thereby making them more meaningful and beneficial to public servants,” Odusanya said.
The Duty Tour Allowance payable to officers undertaking official assignments within Ondo State, outside the state and outside the country has also been reviewed upward.
Odusanya further announced that Governor Aiyedatiwa had approved an additional ₦500 million seed fund for the Car Loan and Housing Loan schemes.
The Head of Service expressed appreciation to the governor for what he described as his continued prioritisation of workers’ welfare, saying the measures would boost the morale of the workforce.
He added that the enhanced welfare packages would strengthen workers’ commitment to supporting the administration in implementing its programmes and development agenda across the state.
