The Nigeria Labour Congress-NLC , Ondo State Chapter has recognised the zealous effort of the good governance under the leadership of our amenable Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo AKEREDOLU SAN CON, across all strata of the economy in the state and therefore, awarded him the “Worker Friendly Governor of the year”. The award was given to him today in this year’s worker’s day celebration at the Arcade, where workers converged for this year first may day 2023. With the Theme: Workers Rights And Socio-Economic Justice.

The Governor, who was represented by Comrade Dare Aragbaye, Special Assistant to the Governor on Union matter and Special Duties received the award on behalf of the governor. In his speech, Governor Akeredolu congratulated all the workers in the state for this year’s anniversary and specifically felicitated with the immediate past President of NLC , Ondo. Sunday Adeleye who is now the Vice President of the NLC . He said that Ondo State workers would continue to enjoy good atmosphere condition in the state for them to work better.
The governor also said Worker’s salarys are being paid up to date and that the government had established Orange insurance schemes that would take care of the health of all the workers in the state .
Similarly, the Governor also talked about his commitment to the development of the educational sector in the state by launching the Education Endowment Fund, for the purpose of boosting the educational sector of the state.
He also talked about the improvement recorded in the area of Agricultural sector and the provision of tight security services for the good people of Ondo State and particularly the farmers, so that people that are into legitimate business could reap the reward of their hard labour.
In the same vein, the governor however, seeked for more loyalty from the workers across the state and also, appealed for more peace and tranquility from the workers for the benefit of all . He used the occasion to thank the Union, for the award given to them.

WORKERS IN THE HIGHER INSTITUTIONS.

While talking about the welfare of the workers in the Higher Institutions in the state, the governor said the Management of those Institutions are those responsible for the welfare of their workers through the subvention given to them by the state government. in addition to what they generated by themselves are enough to meet their needs. And if that is not being done , something else has to be done. He said the governor had set up some Committees in the higher Institutions to see how their being runned and it’s expected for them to submit their reports to the government to look into them and see how those Instructions are being runned so that workers working there, are not being suffered.

He said despite the economic challenge , the government had being giving to workers what is due to them without any delay.
According to the governor, the Pensioners are not left behind in time of special adjustment to the increase of their penson in this administration.
Highlight of the occasion include match Pass by the various Union groups and the Musical interlude was supplied by the Nigeria Police band Ondo State Command and Cultural troops of the state.The entire environment was policed by the men of the Security agencies of Nigeria to maintain law and order by the miscreants that may likely want to forment trouble while the celebration was going on.
