_…Hails Journalists for maintaining professionalism amidst Ondo political situation._

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ondo State Council, felicitates Christians and media professionals across the state, as they celebrate Christmas to mark the birth of the saviour, Jesus Christ.

The union also charges Christians to use the festive period to pray for full recovery of the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and God’s guidance for the State Acting Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa in piloting the affairs of the state.

In a Christmas Message signed by the State Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite and the State Secretary, Comrade Olaoluwa Meshack, Ondo NUJ commends journalists in the state for applying ethics of the profession in reporting recent political crises on the state.

The Union notes with satisfaction that despite pressure from the political class, “our members remain resolute by being fair and objective” in reporting political activities which have been occuring in Ondo State since the beginning of the year 2023, adding that the display of professionalism has helped greatly in sustaining the peaceful atmosphere in the state.

While charging politicians to emulate the good attributes of our Lord Jesus which included Love, Sacrifice and patience, Ondo NUJ calls for peaceful governorship primary and credible election in Ondo State next year, 2024.

NUJ applauds the Ondo State government for taking a lead in implementing the N35,000 wage award as palliative for the state workers, enjoining it to extend the gesture to workers in its tertiary institutions.

While congratulating Christians and journalists for being part of this year’s festive season, the Union urges them to be moderate in their celebration, noting that Jesus Christ came to the world through a humble birth to ensure salvation of the world and to reconcile mankind with his maker.

E-signed:
Leke Adegbite
Chairman.

Olaoluwa Meshack
Secretary.
